With more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry, Angela Boone is the CEO and founder of A. R. Boone Construction, a company known for delivering strong project and construction management along with specialized final cleaning services. She is a trusted partner to developers, contractors, municipalities, and project owners who need someone who understands both the field and the business side of construction.
Angela’s career began in banking before she transitioned into engineering and construction. She worked as a manufacturing engineer with General Motors and later joined Honeywell International as a Project Controls Specialist within the business division, focusing on energy management and retrofit projects. In this role, she supported the financial and operational side of large-scale construction efforts, building a strong foundation in cost controls, project tracking, and execution.
Through A. R. Boone Construction, Angela has led and contributed to a range of projects from community-based developments to large-scale infrastructure. Notable work includes the construction of the Energy Center for the Midfield Terminal for Northwest Airlines, a $2.8 million project, and the building of Howell Elementary School as part of a $1.5 billion capital improvement program. She has also worked under Black & Veatch on a $275 million water treatment plant project, further demonstrating her ability to operate on complex, large-scale infrastructure efforts.
Angela was licensed by the State of Michigan as a Lead Supervisor before working as a Regional Field Consultant with Clear Corps Detroit, where she supported lead safety and compliance efforts across the city. She then went on to serve as a Housing Compliance Inspector for the City of Detroit’s Housing & Revitalization Department, where she conducted home inspections and developed specifications for properties built before 1978 with lead-based hazards.
Working inside older homes every day gave her firsthand insight into how hidden conditions, especially outdated systems, can put families at risk. That experience continues to shape her work today, driving her focus on proactive inspections, identifying electrical hazards, and preventing fires before they happen.
Angela holds an Associate of Science in Business Administration and has completed the required 60-hour residential builder education toward obtaining her builder’s license, along with training in residential construction and interior design. This combination gives her a well-rounded understanding of both the technical and operational sides of the industry.
Her leadership and impact have earned her recognition as one of Michigan’s Top 10 Business Women of Distinction by the National Association of Women Business Owners, along with honors including the Spirit of Detroit Award, the Fire Fund Award, the Wayne County Commission Unsung Hero Award, and testimonial resolutions from the Detroit City Council and Wayne County.
Beyond her project work, Angela is a published author, a featured voice in national and international publications, and the host of the “Business Minded with Angie B” podcast. She also writes the “Construction News” LinkedIn newsletter, where she shares real-world insight, industry knowledge, and practical guidance.
Angela is deeply committed to community impact. She actively teaches, mentors, and creates pathways for others to enter the construction industry and build their own businesses. She has served as a keynote speaker for organizations including the Michigan Department of Transportation and continues to work closely with community leaders across the state.
At A. R. Boone Construction, Angela brings together decades of experience, real-world field knowledge, and a strong commitment to safety and community. Every project reflects her belief that construction is not just about building structures, it’s about protecting people, creating opportunities, and strengthening communities.
